SHR (IPL) LASER TECHNOLOGY
Super Hair Removal Technology (SHR) Lasers is a revolutionary new method for permanent hair removal that is virtually pain & side effect free. In comparison to other slightly dated laser and IPL methods, SHR provides faster, safer and pain free hair reduction treatments for clients.
WHAT IS SHR?
SHR stands for Super Hair Removal. It’s a huge step forward in permanent hair reduction and is the most advanced way of removing unwanted hair. SHR is faster than traditional IPL and Laser, it’s safer and its pain free in comparison.
HOW DOES SHR WORK?
SHR is a revolutionary approach. Rather than bombarding your skin with high amounts of Joules (energy), SHR fires multiple shots but at low Joules. This gently heats the hair follicle to the heat needed and the most you will feel is warmth and a tingling sensation. SHR also utilises In-Motion technology, where the hand piece is always in motion on the skin.
IS SHR SUITABLE FOR ALL SKIN TYPES?
SHR is suitable for all skin types, even tanners, this is achievable because of the technology and techniques utilised. Unlike traditional Laser and IPL, SHR can be had all year round without having to hide from the sun.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NEEDED?
To fully treat the area you may require 6-10 treatments at four week intervals. A four week regime is important to maintain so that the SHR treatments get the hair at its four week re-growth. Near the end of the treatments, 6-8 week intervals will be needed to finish off your course.
IS THERE ANY PAIN?
Absolutely pain free, this is achieved by SHR technology and In-Motion techniques, to give pain free treatment for body hair removal.
OTHER USES OF IPL THERAPY
Elight therapy is a safe and non-invasion treatment, based on light therapy which is beneficial and effective for both men and women of all ages for most skin types. Test patch required prior to treatment
- Skin rejuvenation, wrinkle reduction, and reduces redness and flushing.
- Evens out skin tone and tightens pores.
- Reduces Pigmentation, age spots and sun damage.
- Improves acne and acne scarring.
The benefit of IPL hair reduction (as opposed to waxing) is that you’re working towards a seriously decreased growth of hair. Depending on your skin colour and hair colour will depend on your result! Therefore results are extremely individual and this is why a full consultation is required, we at Petries Cottage can actually give you an estimate of the result in the consultation.
Also cost!! Even though the initial outlay of cost for IPL hair removal will seem quite a lot. Compared to on-going waxing cost, it is actually more cost effective than waxing!
Hair removal with IPL or laser uses heat from light rays to target hair roots, incapacitating it from ever growing again. Depending on the growth phase of the hair follicle, only approximately ten percent of the hair is successfully disabled each time. This is the reason why multiple sessions are required to achieve an acceptable level of hair removal. Most clients will see results after 6 – 8 treatments on the proviso that treatment appointments are strictly adhered to. This is intended to capture as many hairs as possible during its growth phase.
Other factors affecting the number of treatment sessions required are the area being treated, skin type, hair colour, age, gender, hormones and metabolism. Medical conditions such as Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) will experience poor result and clients should consult their doctors before undergoing hair reduction treatments. This is due to hirsuitism which is excessive hair growth on the face due to hormone disruption; a symptom of PCOS.
While there is some immediate hair loss, the more common result is for hair to continue falling out over the next two to three weeks. Over the course of the six or seven treatment sessions, clients can achieve a significant amount of hair reduction in the treatment area. Subsequent maintenance treatments are only required once every six to twelve months.
With SHR technology only a slight warmth is felt during this quick treatment. You have to feel it to believe it.
Do you suffer from or have had HORRIBLE shaving rashes, ingrowns and excrutiating waxing experiences, this is amazing, hair reduction from your first treatment, minimal discomfort and virtually painless. I will never wax again!
PAIN-FREE HAIR REMOVAL
Most conventional IPL laser hair removal technologies utilize massive amounts of heat to destroy hair follicles and ensure permanent reduction. On the other hand, SHR IPL Lasers fire multiple shots but at lower Joules. This new method gently heats the hair follicles producing a warm tingling sensation—some clients compare it to a warm massage. In-Motion™ technology is utilised by moving the hand piece over the treated skin which contributes to the overall comfort felt by our customers during their hair reduction treatments.
ALL HAIR TYPES, ALL SKIN TYPES, ALL YEAR ROUND
The unique laser technology and techniques used in SHR IPL makes all hair and skin types suitable for this treatment. SHR IPL is also an attractive hair removal solution for those who don’t want to shy away from the sun, meaning hair reduction treatments can be had all year round. By utilizing low heat, SHR IPL decreases the amount of heat absorbed by the skin so treatment can be done on tanned skin. SHR IPL Technology is ideal for LIGHTER and WHITE HAIR.
FOR BEST HAIR REMOVAL RESULTS
Depending on the area that requires SHR, we recommend that our clients have 6-10 treatments at four week intervals. Hair reduction treatments at four weekly intervals will ensure that we are able to target the hair at the right time during the natural re-growth cycle. Towards the end of the process, the interval between hair reduction treatments may be extended to 6-8 weeks as the re-growth cycles slow.
SHR IPL LASER HAIR REDUCTION TREATMENT AREAS
Is it safe? IPL Laser hair removal is the most popular aesthetic procedures performed around the world. SHR IPL Laser treatments have provided safe and effective permanent hair reduction for millions of people worldwide. Because SHR Lasers utilizes IN-MOTION™ and low-heat settings we are able to provide a level of safety unlike any other laser hair removal procedure.
Will my hair ever grow back? Actively growing hair that’s been treated with SHR should not grow back. Once a hair follicle is damaged, it cannot grow hair. However, hair follicles that were not in the active growth phas, will need to be treated. It’s also not unusual for some patients to have a touch-up two years after initial treatment due to hormonal changes.
Do I need to arrange time off from work for treatments? SHR IPL Laser treatments have no “down time” and requires no recovery time. You can have a treatment and return to work and other normal activities immediately.
Why do I need 6+ treatments? Hair growth occurs in 4 stages: Early Anagen (early hair growth), Anagen (active hair growth), Catagen (regression) and Telogen (resting, not growing). Laser hair removal only affects the Anagen stage (actively growing hair). Therefore, approximately twenty-five-percent of hair is removed with each treatment. A few treatments are therefore required for the treatment area to be hair free.
Botox has become a household name for anyone who cares for their skin, and is often the first treatment that comes to mind as wrinkles begin to appear. Read more to learn how Botox can help you look and feel younger!
Is Botox safe?
Botox stands for botulinum toxin, and, while it is the most recognizable name of the available neurotoxins, there are others, as well—Dysport, Xeomin, and soon Jeauveau.—all of which are derived from bacteria. While it might sound scary to have a toxin injected into you!, Botox is extremely safe and has been used as a medical treatment for well over 50 years. Botox was discovered in the 1820s by Dr. Justinus Kerner, and its safety and efficacy have been studied for centuries, with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approving it as safe for medicaluse in 1989, and then for cosmetic use in 2002. Today, it is the only treatment approved to improve crow’s feet, forehead lines, and frown lines. The amount of Botox used around the world is a testament to its safety. While over 13 million vials have been sold in the United States alone, Botox is approved in almost 100 countries, and there are countless studies in scientific journals attesting to its safety and efficacy profile when performed by an experienced injector. A board-certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon is the right person to go to for this procedure.
Is Botox Effective?
An experienced injector can target the correct amount of Botox into the intended muscle to achieve the desired effect of improving wrinkles. Most patients are extremely satisfied with the results, which appear within a few days. Botox should be reinjected every 4-6 months initially to maintain optimal results. Gradually, your muscles will be “re-trained” to move less, so that over time, you will need fewer injections to maintain the desired result.
In addition to improving appearance, Botox has also been effective for a variety of medicalconditions including hyperhidrosis (excess sweating) and migraines. Recently, Botox has been shown to improve mood as well.
How does Botox work?
Botox works by inhibiting muscle contractions—but how does that counteract facial lines? Well, remember the old adage we attribute to our mothers—-“Don’t make that face or it will stay like that!”? Well, your mother was well ahead of her time in understanding that. Over time, the repeated contraction of muscles, combined with increasing laxity of skin, causes permanent creases or wrinkles to develop. Think of it like the dry cleaner pressing creases into your pants. After a few cleanings, those creases cannot be undone, Of course there are many other things which contribute to the overall aging of skin, some of which happen to everyone and some are compounded by things like sun exposure and smoking. The sun and overall environment are responsible for producing free radicals in the skin, which cause damage at the cellular level and thus induce a variety of changes to make the skin lose collagen and elasticity, develop pigment abnormalities, and lose the glow of youth. And as our chronological age increases, so do the number of times we squint, frown, smile and look surprised—all of which contribute to the eventual lines we call our “elevens” between our brows, our “crow’s feet” around our eyes, and our “forehead lines.” Depending on our facial structure and pattern of movement, each of us develops a different pattern of wrinkling. And sometimes looking at one’s parents can give a sneak preview into the future for our lines.
Over the last few years, Botox has been used more and more frequently in younger patients to PREVENT deep lines from forming , which will surely prove to be helpful as younger patients are also becoming more attentive to ALL of the necessary steps to keep themselves looking great for longer. And the number of men receiving cosmetic treatments has literally tripled in the last decade, with over a million Botox treatments performed on men in just the last three years!
What should I expect from my Botox injections?
An experienced dermatologist will first evaluate your face to identify areas that will benefit from Botox to make you naturally appear more youthful and rested. After this evaluation, the Botox will be injected with a few small pinches that are similar to mosquito bites, and you will be ready to return to work or other regularly scheduled activities immediately afterward. Because it takes a few hours for the Botox to be fully absorbed by the muscle, you should avoid heavy exercise or laying with your face prone or head upside down for a few hours. You will begin to notice results in a few days, and see the full effects in one to two weeks. Some, but not all, patients require a quick touch-up at this point to achieve optimal correction.
When done correctly by an experienced injector, Botox gives a natural look and you will continue to have expression in your face. This is why it is so crucial that you be injected by an expert in facial anatomy, such as your dermatologist or plastic surgeon. Friends and family will usually comment that you are “well-rested,” or ask if there are any changes to your skincare routine. You will look like you, but with lines that are less noticeable.
What are some myths about Botox?
Many people think that they don’t have time for Botox, or that changes will be permanent. Others are concerned that Botox will give them a “frozen” look, that they’re too young for Botox, or that Botox is only for people of one gender. None of these is true! It’s also important to realize that everyone’s face moves differently, and the art of injecting Botox is figuring out which muscles are appropriate for treatment. Some of us have eyebrows that are naturally straight, or naturally arched, and each shape requires its own injection pattern. Same goes for forehead lines, because sometimes the forehead muscles need to remain active to keep your brows lifted, and this will be evaluated thoroughly by a skilled injector. As a result of our individual anatomy and movement pattern, not everyone will be able to eliminate particular lines which might bother them. So just because your friend was able to erase all of her forehead lines, that doesn’t mean those results are achievable in YOU.
Botox works with busy schedules because the treatment itself takes less than ten minutes, and, other than minor bruising in some patients, there is no downtime. Yes, there is maintenance every few months because the results are not permanent, but this is not much different from the need for maintenance of our haircuts, hair color, teeth cleaning, etc.
